Let's talk about all things icon
Together with the awesome folks at Oak Studios, Brooklyn NY, we released a new friendly and special kind of symbol font with precise pixel-fitting and a warm, organic finish - she goes by the name of SS Pika. Designed to make your graphic and interface designs look inviting and charming. The chunky glyphs in this set are incredibly consistent and sharp, but not severe. It neither conforms rigidly to the underlying grid nor completely abandons it but uses it rationally, resulting in distinctive gently curved contours.
It all started with a typical Dutchman; a sober-minded, blue-eyed and blonde-haired bargeman's child. Some call him Dutch, while others call him iconic. Growing up, he drew boats while other children drew houses. He became a member of a crew at sea and passionate about inline-skate ashore. But, even as a teen he never dropped his pencil...
Yes we can! We make icons and more... this one for example. Illustrations are great for identity design systems. Intriguing, instrumental and instantly recognizable. Don't tell your story, illustrate it or be boring.
I'm the founder of Dutch Icon and I'm not your average icon designer. Just a design nerd with years of design experience including corporate identities, packages, web design, illustrations and yes icons. An eye for design, I guess, mixed with just enough perfectionism and a solid foundation established at art academy. Of course I also have a fine team supporting me. We can help you!
Resolutions are getting higher and vectors are everywhere. HTML5 provides scalable vector graphics, retina display with IPS technology; 2880x1800 resolution at 220 pixels per inch with support for millions of colors. All this is available for iPhones, iPads and soon in all iMacs and Mac Book Pros. With all this exciting and promising new technology, we still see poor quality or poorly used icons all too often. It might feel like pixel perfect design is over but it's not quite over yet!
We created this space for the more curious to share and discuss thoughts, experience, developments, knowledge, information - all kinds of stuff.
